What are some fun activities to do at a barbecue?

I’m hosting a barbecue with my parents and friends (girls). We don’t want to sit around eating the whole time. What are some cool things to do? I already came up with water balloon fight and volleyball.

very old fashioned, three legged race, wheelbarrow race, sack race, tug of war over a kiddie pool, flap jack race—have people with pancake turners flipping pancakes while walking a certain distance. egg race, put a boiled egg in a teaspoon and have them try to carry it a distance walking fast. frisbee championships, make older people try to get hula hoops to work. if there is a swimming pool, a greased watermellon war, put a greased watermellon in the middle and two teams on each end of the pool, make them try to get it away from the center and to their own end of the pool, good swimmers only. twister.
