Food you are grilling? And yes, I do know it is carcinogenic to food and that you should only grill as little as possible.

Charcoal is the best, hands down! Have you ever said anything like, “Yum yum, that sure is a great propane flavor on those burgers?” If you are cooking over gas, why bother going outside in the heat (or cold) to do it. You can have gas cooking in your kitchen, without the bugs, etc.

Grilling with charcoal is great but using a smoker is even better.

While I do prefer charcoal, I use it very little because it is very time consuming and tricky to get your temp just right. I do disagree with bigrob’s comments about the “taste” of propane. I grill out several times a week and sell lots of grilled beef and chicken through my catering business – there is no “taste” associated with propane. If I could only have one type of grill it would be a propane grill. BTW, I really like my smoker better (but it too is propane powered).

I’m used to gas grills.. you can get the mesquite flavor with mesquite flavor wood chips. I have used charcoal, but, when I’m hungry, I like to walk out, slap my food on the grill, light it up, and be able to eat soon. I have a hard time waiting for the charcoal to turn color before my food will start to cook.

I’ve done both. But I prefer gas. Less time, less mess and no lighter fluid taste. You can add wood to give smoked taste to the gas grill. I have done it many times and it works great.

Charcoal, and yes you can tell the difference. As for it beingcarcinogenic, I don’t think it’s possible to eat enough of it for that to be a problem. Kind of like the test they did with the fake sweeteners. The amount they had to give the rats to make them get cancer was more than a human would consume in 1000 years

CHARCOAL HAS BETTER FLAVOR, WITH WOOD CHIPS SOAKED IN LIQU. SMOKE ON THE MEAT THAN GAS BUT IF YOU ARE IN A HURRY GAS IS QUICKER.

    PROPANE…FOR CONVENIENCE
I DO THINK THAT CHARCOAL TASTES BETTER THOUGH

well, charcoal is definitely better for flavor but they do make these trays one can put wood chips in for a gas grill which gets ya close to the same experience. As far as carcinogens go, it cant be worse than breathing bus fumes on the way to work every single day.

I don’t know anything about no health problems here, but as rustic as you can get, the better taste food has. Carbon coked is way better than gas cooked. Want another example, try a pizza baked in a brick oven and the have a pizza baked in a regular oven. Try to imagine which is better? The rustic one.
